Supervision is a key part of the development and training of clinical psychologist. As part of the training process we rely on our Clinical Supervisor partners across all areas of the NHS to provide training placements for our trainees. To support that reciprocal relationship we provide regular supervision training to Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. This happens in a number of different formats.
1. Introduction to Clinical Supervision: This comprehensive 3 day Introduction to Clinical Supervision is a well-established course, based on national learning outcomes for supervisor training. Feedback from the previous cohorts has been extremely positive. This is an exciting opportunity for those eligible to supervise for the first time, or those with some experience of supervision, to participate in a structured course, as part of their CPD. This is run twice a year starting in January and July. The next course is due to run January 12th and 26th and June 22nd 2021. Please see the flier and application form below.
2. Charney Manor Annual Supervision Workshops: These are supervision workshops open to all Psychologists connected to OXICPTR. They run on the Monday and Tuesday of the second week in September. The trainings are oriented around the two main theoretical models of OXICPTR - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Systemic Theory and focus on supervision themes in from these theoretical viewpoints. The next days are 13th and 14th September 2021. Please see the flier and application form below
3. Research Supervision Training: This is an annual training event that runs to introduce Clinical Supervisors to Research supervision, specifically Single Case Experimental Design and Service Improvement Projects.
4. Ad Hoc Training: We have placement supervisor representatives on all of our committees so as and when the need arises we are able to set up and deliver ad hoc training. Example of this are: Introduction to using the CTS-R and the Systemic Family Practice Scale. As we become technologically savvy more and more training is being recorded and is available to supervisors on our Virtual Learning Environment – CANVAS.
Training is ordinarily only available for supervisors within the Thames Valley Placement area as detailed at https://oxicptr.web.ox.ac.uk/clinical-placements , however we may be able to offer spaces on our training courses for those outside of this area for a fee.
