Oxford Foundation and Intermediate Systemic Courses
Oxford Systemic Therapy Training (OSTT)
We are passionate trainers and are invested in developing systemic practice skills with a wide range of health and social care professionals from different settings across the life span.
We lead PGCert Foundation and PGDip Intermediate Systemic Courses with Oxford Brookes University and the Association of Family and Systemic Psychotherapy accredited embedded courses within the Clinical Psychology Doctorate at Oxford University. We began to offer courses for health and social care professionals in partnership with Oxford Brookes in 2022/2023. Our PG Cert course is accredited by AFT and we are waiting accreditation for the PG Dip which is imminent. We are a partnership with Oxford Brookes University. Successful Applicants will enrol as Oxford Brookes students and have access to the library and other facilities.
Located in Oxford, OSTT is a team of family therapists, each with their unique cultural and clinical background committed to the development and application of systemic thinking to clinical practice and research.
We are also committed to tailoring our teaching to the uniqueness of each cohort, taking our students’ needs and resources into account.
What is Systemic Family Therapy?
Systemic family therapy is a family-based approach to mental health issues and a relational approach to ways of working with and within organisations. It is an evidence-based approach which involves a focus on the connections and patterns between people around difficulties as well as exploring relational strengths. It also involves a contextual and intergenerational understanding of people’s lives and a commitment to anti oppressive practice; considering power, inequality and diversity. It is also an approach that considers the self of the practitioner and the development of self-reflection within our work with others.
