Following my degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol, I trained as a primary school teacher with the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. My teaching and educational leadership roles involved applying psychological theory to support children’s social, emotional and cognitive development in a context of high risk and complex challenges. I subsequently completed a master’s degree in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Practice at UCL and undertook an Honorary Assistant Psychologist role in a CAMHS Under-5s team. Alongside studying, I worked as a research assistant on a longitudinal study of experiences of first-time parenthood.
Professional Interest
My professional experiences highlighted the detrimental impact of socio-economic hardship and marginalization on mental health and wellbeing. Consequently, I am passionate about improving psychological access and support for vulnerable children and families.
Current Placement
My first year placement is with an IAPT Talking Therapies Service.
