Dr Sam French is a Clinical Psychologist, BABCP-accredited CBT Therapist, and Research Tutor for OXICPTR. He qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Oxford and completed further specialist training in CBT for severe mental health problems at the University of Southampton, with a focus on CBT for personality presentations (often referred to as ‘personality disorders’).
Since qualifying, Dr French has worked therapeutically with individuals across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, and older adults. He currently works in private practice alongside his role on the Oxford course. Previously, he worked with complex and severe presentations in a secondary care psychological therapies service within the NHS. He is passionate about evidence-based approaches to clinical practice, and his clinical work is typically cognitive-behavioural in focus. Prior to joining the Oxford course, he served as a clinical and research supervisor.
Dr French is particularly interested in improving the understanding and treatment of mental health difficulties, including anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma, and hoarding. He is also dedicated to enhancing the understanding and support of neurodiversity, with a focus on autism and ADHD.
