Rushad Zubin Saklatwalla

I am currently studying and working as a trainee clinical psychologist as part of the 2024-2027 cohort at Oxford. My professional journey includes valuable experience an honorary assistant psychologist within the Adult Neuropsychology Team at the John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). I also served as an assistant psychologist in a Community Neuro Rehabilitation Service (St George's, Epsom, and St Helier Hospital Group), as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals across community and inpatient settings. Gained experience in administering a variety of neuropsychological assessments and employing therapeutic modalities, including third-wave CBT approaches such as MBCT and ACT, in both group and individual contexts. Being Zoroastrian by faith, with a rich Indo-Persian heritage, I am deeply committed to providing culturally competent care to the diverse populations served by the NHS. My passion lies in exploring the intersections of culture, religion, faith, and spirituality within transpersonal therapeutic frameworks, especially in South Asian and Middle Eastern contexts. I aspire to integrate my cultural background and clinical expertise to foster a more inclusive and empathic mental health landscape. I have contributed to an ongoing audit project aimed at introducing standardised mood and cognitive screens into the routine practice of multiple sclerosis practitioners. I have also conducted research on the efficacy of MBCT in reducing seizure frequency for patients with non-epileptic seizures. My clinical and research interests further extend to areas such as psychodynamic therapy, medically unexplained symptoms, functional neurological disorders, and pain.
