Robert Chandler

I am currently in my first year of training on the Oxford Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My first placement will be in an inpatient hospital supporting working age adults, and my second placement will be in an older adult service.

I gained my Psychology undergraduate degree (1:1) from the University of Warwick in 2019 and have since worked across a range of different settings.

The majority of my clinical experience has been as an Assistant Psychologist working in the community. For instance, I have worked in psychology teams in an Adult Community Mental Health Team, Community Learning Disability Team, Perinatal Mental Health Team and Long COVID Rehabilitation Team.

I have also gained clinical experience working in the third sector as the Health and Wellbeing Manager at Sky Blues in the Community. This role allowed me to implement a range of different mental health interventions which targeted traditionally hard to reach groups such as working age men. I also received funding for and implemented interventions for primary school children, teenagers, men with dementia, women with physical and mental health problems as well as weight management interventions.

My professional interests are currently perinatal mental health and male mental health. I hope to combine these interests to better the specialist provision for new fathers and to broaden the evidence base and understanding of male mental health problems in the ante/postnatal period.
