Lucy Schrauwers

I am a Trainee Clinical Psychologist at the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology, 2024-2027. My placement for my first year is split between Older Adults and Perinatal Mental Health in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. My career path into Psychology followed an untraditional route; I undertook my BA (Hons) in Human Geography at the University of Birmingham and started my career working in Financial Services on a graduate leadership programme for a global insurance company in 2007. After five years working in the City, I moved into the Third Sector where I supported young, disadvantaged people, helping them return to education, secure employment or set up in enterprise. Whilst at The Prince’s Trust, I learnt about the challenges surrounding access to mental health services among disadvantaged communities and in 2017 I pursued my passion and completed a Master’s Conversion in Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. Following my MSc, I volunteered and worked as an Assistant Psychologist across a range of settings within Multidisciplinary Teams for Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. These included a Neurological Rehabilitation Unit, Community Perinatal Team and Mother and Baby Unit. More recently, I worked in Adult as well as Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services, with particular focus on trauma and attachment among Children Looked After. I was also a member of the Psychological Professions Network East of England Council. My clinical interests include trauma, as well as perinatal care and neuropsychology, and improving access to mental health services. I look forward to expanding my interests within doctoral training and working with varied patient groups over the next three years.
