Dr Laura Fisk is a Clinical Psychologist, graduating from Newcastle University in 2014. Laura joined the Oxford course in 2024.
Before completing her doctorate, Laura worked as a health care assistant on an adolescent psychiatrist inpatient unit, an assistant psychologist for a memory assessment service, and assistant psychologist for a newly-set up community-based adult eating disorder service.
Since graduating from the doctorate, Laura has worked in worked in various NHS services, including adult eating disorder service, older adults teams (inpatient and care home work), as well as community adult mental health services. She trialled and researched the delivery of clinical psychology services in general practice, provided clinical psychology services to older adults wards during the Covid-19 outbreak and has a particular interest in supporting other staff members, especially non-psychologists, to “think psychologically” and improve the delivery of care - particularly at the “sharp end” of mental health.
Laura has completed training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), alongside various other courses. She particularly appreciates how DBT has helped her and her teams grow in confidence in supporting “complexity” and suicidality. Laura finds she is also drawn to systemic and psychodynamic ways of thinking and working. She seeks to always ensure the voices of service users are at the heart of how she works.
