Joseph Vacher

BSc (Hons)

Trainee Clinical Psychologist

My pre-training experiences included one year as a Research Assistant at Broadmoor Hospital, primarily investigating the neuropsychological functioning of males admitted to high-security care, and the emotion processing capabilities of males with marked traits of psychopathy.

I also spent approximately one year as an Assistant Psychologist in a women’s prison, both on a pre‐treatment service which focused on treatment readiness, motivation, engagement and exploration of barriers to treatment, and a post-treatment service with an aim to help patients consolidate and generalise their treatment gains.

Alongside this, I have assisted in psychological assessments conducted for court / legal proceedings under supervision.

During my first year of clinical training, I provided assessment, formulation and intervention for a range of mental health difficulties in an Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service. I also provided comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and reports regarding an individual's memory, exploring for the possible presence of a memory disorder, in a Specialist Memory Service.
