Joanna Mitchell

Joanna Mitchell BSc (Hons)

I am a trainee on the Oxford Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2021 – 2024)

Prior to clinical training, I spent a year as an honorary research assistant / assistant psychologist at Broadmoor Hospital. I completed neuropsychological assessments for new admissions, including assessments of general cognitive functioning, executive functioning and ASD. I also recruited patients to several quality improvement and experimental research projects.

I also spent two years as a research assistant working on several randomised controlled trials with the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) team, which aimed to improve peoples’ sense of confidence and safety through virtual reality cognitive therapy (gameChange and THRIVE trials). This involved assessing and formulating individuals’ difficulties for suitability and conducting baseline and follow-up assessments.

My first clinical placement is with the Windsor and Community Mental Health Team for Older People for six months.
