Hjordis Lorenz

I am about to start my third year of clinical psychology training with a specialist placement at the Berkshire Traumatic Stress Service (BTSS). I completed my first-year adult mental health and older adult placements in IAPT (Talking Therapies) in Berkshire, my child placement in Children's Psychological Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and my placement working with intellectual disabilities in the North Oxford LD team (community mental health).

Professional Interests:

Prior to my clinical training, I worked towards my PhD at the Oxford Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma. My research focused on targeting risk factors and predictors of PTSD in student paramedics. Alongside this, I volunteered at the Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre and at Cruse Bereavement Care.

Prior, I worked for one year, part-time in an in-patient dual diagnosis (addiction and mental health) facility, co-facilitating individual treatment, leading psychoeducation classes and running CBT-based dual diagnosis groups. I was also part of a clinical team running culturally adapted CBT groups in Zambia and training local healthcare supporters.

I have a special interest in PTSD and PTSD prevention and have worked with trauma in various contexts ranging from domestic violence, sexual violence, addiction, military, and emergency workers.
