Fiona Symington

I am a trainee in the 2025 cohort. Before training, I studied at the University of Cambridge, the Open University, and the University of Bath, where I completed an MSc in Health Psychology.

My experience includes roles in smoking cessation, as an Assistant Psychologist within an NHS learning disability team, and as a Research Assistant on projects relating to homelessness — including studies on hoarding, neuropsychological functioning, women’s homelessness, and autism in homeless populations.

Following recovery from chronic pain and M.E./CFS, I have also contributed as a patient expert. I am a member of the Consumer Advisory Group of the international Collaborative on Fatigue and Related Symptoms Following Infection (COFFI) and previously served on the Lived Experience Committee of the British Pain Society (Psychiatry Training School, NHS Derbyshire). I have also served as a Governor for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

My interests include paediatric chronic pain, functional symptoms, and health communication.
