I am a trainee on the Oxford Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2021 – 2024)
Prior to clinical training, I worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Sheffield where I was involved in investigating the relationship between social cognition and humour development in young children. I was also involved in the validation of a new measure of social cognition in children from 0 – 4 years.
I worked as a Therapy Co-ordinator in a forensic psychiatric unit for men with a primary diagnosis of personality disorder. I took a strengths-based approach to deliver therapeutic activities in line with service users’ recovery goals.
I also spent two years working on the NIHR funded gameChange trial, a multi-site randomised controlled trial led by the University of Oxford, which aims to improve the lives of people who have experienced psychosis and social anxiety using virtual reality cognitive therapy. I was responsible for inviting service users to take part, formulating their difficulties, and conducting baseline and follow-up assessments.
My first clinical placement will be year-long split between an IAPT service and an older adults service.
