Ellen Iredale

BA (Hons), MSt, MSc

I am a trainee on the Oxford Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2022 – 2025).

I am interested in developing preventative psychological interventions for young people, particularly for intimate partner violence and domestic abuse, and I have a strong interest in Compassion-focused therapy.

Prior to clinical training, I spent two years working in the Oxford Cognitive Approaches to Psychosis (O-CAP) research group run by Daniel Freeman. I was the research assistant on the SleepWell clinical trial of CBT for sleep difficulties for young people at risk of psychosis, run by Felicity Waite. For SleepWell I recruited and assessed 40 participants at baseline and follow-up stages. I also assisted in the delivery of CBT for anxious avoidance for adults with psychosis, using the gameChange virtual reality programme.

I previously worked for the charity Home-Start, supporting families with psychological needs in the community and supervising volunteers. My role included running groups for children in schools and community centres.

Before psychology, I completed a BA (Hons) in French and German at the University of Cambridge, followed by a Masters in French at the University of Oxford. I then undertook a conversion MSc in Psychology at the University of Essex.
