I am the lead for supervision training and convene the child and adolescent teaching block and teach on a range of subjects within the area.
Prior to joining the course team in January of 2019 I spent the last 15 years working as a Clinical Psychologist in CAMHS and Social Services. I qualified in 2003 from Salomons - Christchurch College Canterbury and came to work in CAMHS in Banbury, Oxfordshire. After two years I joined the team setting up the Children Looked After DBT Team (which integrated into the Crisis and Outreach Service - OSCA). This gave me a taste for service development and working with complex cases and so I became Programme Supervisor and Clinical Lead for the Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care – Oxfordshire (3-11yrs). I was a founding member of this service and was the first national team to get accreditation from TFC Oregon (www.tfcoregon.com). After this I moved back into CAMHS in Banbury in a more senior role with responsibility for supervision throughout the county.
Throughout my clinical work I have used evidence based treatment models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Behavioural Therapy, Family Therapy and Multi-Dimensional Treatment Foster Care. In my clinical work I tailor interventions by integrating appropriate theoretical frame works into treatment such as Attachment theory, Systemic theories and Neurodevelopmental theories.
Throughout my working life I have had to work in close partnership with professionals in other agencies. As such I have gained good working knowledge of the systems and teams around young people including Children’s Social Care and Education.
I have extensive experience of supervising the clinical practice of professionals. I have supervised psychologist from assistant psychologist, through to trainee and qualified clinical psychologists. I have supervised professionals working within my clinical team such as teachers, social workers, nurses, family therapists and skills coaches. I have supervised a clinical team within a strict treatment model (MTFC) and have had that practiced video-taped, observed and accredited. I have provided external clinical supervision for teams. This has been for staff in residential settings (The Priory Group, Oxfordshire County Council) as well as community intervention projects (Thriving Families Project Oxfordshire).

My areas of interest include: working with young people who have complex trauma histories; Children Looked After; understanding how to work effectively in teams around young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs; using Attachment theory to inform clinical practice; the impact of social media on the emotional wellbeing of children and young people.
