Amber Bowen

I am a first year Trainee Clinical Psychologist, on the 2022-2025 cohort. My first placement is within Clinical Health Psychology at the Pelvic Pain service, John Radcliffe Hospital.

Prior to training, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Year in Employment at the University of Southampton. During my undergraduate placement, I worked as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist between a local CMHT and Early Intervention in Psychosis service. Alongside my studies, I gained experience as a Research Assistant and worked with colleagues to disseminate and facilitate use of a recovery focused outcome measure across NHS mental health services. Once I graduated, I worked as a Psychosocial Practitioner in a forensic substance misuse service, and later as an Assistant Psychologist in a large CMHT.

I am particularly interested in complex trauma, staff wellbeing, and the role of stigma and self-stigma in mental health, and I am looking forward to gaining a wide range experience across different settings and with varied patient groups on placement.
