Alice Farrington qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2000 from Southampton University and initially came to Oxford to work in CAMHS and the Youth Offending Team. Alice then moved to work jointly in Oxford CAMHS and the Under 12s inpatient unit. Alice had a career break between 2005 and 2014 and returned to work in Berkshire where she joined the CAMHS Anxiety and Depression Team. From 2019 until 2025, Alice was the Clinical Lead for the Berkshire CAMHS Anxiety Disorder Treatment Team, during which time she completed a compassionate leadership training course.
Alice’s clinical work has been primarily with children and young people presenting with Anxiety, Depression, OCD, BDD and Tic Disorders. Alice’s preferred models are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy, but she also integrates other frameworks such as Attachment, Developmental and Systemic theories. Alice has developed particular expertise in adapting therapy for neurodivergent families, and working through parents.
Over the past five years, Alice has been involved in the development of a parent led treatment of OCD for younger children, and is now developing and piloting a digital version, alongside other researchers at The University of Oxford.
Alice has extensive experience of providing supervision and consultation to other professionals. Alice has supervised psychologists from Assistant Psychologist, through to Trainee and qualified clinical psychologists, as well as clinicians from other backgrounds. For the past 3 years, Alice has also provided CBT group supervision for Clinical Psychologists across the UK seeking BABCP accreditation.
Alice is BABCP accredited as a CBT Therapist. Alongside her role in OXiCPTR as a course tutor, Alice also works clinically in the Oxford Health Specialist Psychological Intervention Centre.
