Fiona McFarlane

Dr Fiona McFarlane has worked in the NHS since qualifying as a clinical psychologist at UCL in 2008. She has worked in CAMHS outreach services with “hard to reach” populations, in tier 3 CAMHS services and for 7 years worked in Great Ormond Street Hospital, latterly as the Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Psychological Medicine Team. This team specialised in supporting young people with co-morbid physical and mental health problems, young people with Tourette Syndrome and young people with Medically Unexplained symptoms. These are ongoing areas of clinical and research interest for Fiona.

Fiona is a BACBP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and is passionate about providing evidence-based interventions. Her original degree was in Neuroscience and in keeping with the client groups she has worked with she is skilled in working with those with neurodevelopmental disorders. She strongly values the skills in delivering and interpreting cognitive assessments that clinical psychologists have and wants to instil a passion for this in the clinical psychologists we train.

Fiona started her role at the OXiCPT in September 2020 as an academic tutor and also works in the Oxford Health Specialist Intervention Clinic associated with the centre. She also works clinically with children, families and young adults in a small private practice.
