Holly Risdon

BSc (Hons), MSc

I am currently in my first year of training on the Oxford Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course. My first year placement will be working in a pain service to be shared with a placement in an older adult service in the second half of the year.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

I gained my Psychology degree from the University of the West of England in 2015, and my Master’s in Clinical & Health Psychology from Newcastle University in 2016.

Prior to training, I have worked as an assistant psychologist within a Welsh Primary Care Service (similar to IAPT). My previous two roles were in community substance misuse and community weight management, respectively.

PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS

My professional interests are currently towards clinical health psychology, body image, appearance, visible difference, and eating disorders.

I am passionate about widening access to clinical psychology and have run a successful mentoring programme for pre-training psychologists. I am interested in increasing public awareness of and access to mental health information and resources, often using social media (especially video production) and discussion.
